Let’s face it, at the end of the day, everyone wants to walk away with plenty of quality hardware in recognition of a great day on the field. The Legacy of Champions has awards for all superior and excellent rating in both festival and contest. The contest awards are awarded based on divisions. Gold Division consists of AAAA bands and larger, Silver Division consists of AAA bands and smaller. A champion, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in each division as well as 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place for Percussion, Drum Major, and Color Guard per division. Additionally, a best of class will be awarded for Band, Percussion, Drum Major, and Color Guard.
The highlight of our award ceremony is our awe-inspiring, custom designed traveling Grand Championship Trophy that we believe will become the most coveted marching band trophy in the state. This amazing, massive bronze trophy was designed and created by University of West Georgia alum, Daniel McMillian, exclusively for the Carrollton High School Band Boosters and The Legacy of Champions Marching Band Competition. It features his rendition of the legendary Sword of Troy and a traditional Greek shield that represents the honor and valor that are displayed every time one of our Trojan teams takes the field in competition.
This one-of-a-kind traveling trophy is presented annually to the best overall judged band, across both divisions, at our competition to adorn their band room until the following summer, when it will be reclaimed by the Trojan Nation and placed back in the arena to await its next victor. An engraved plaque with the previous year’s winner will be added to the trophy annually as a testimony of each Grand Champion’s accomplishment. Each defending Grand Champion will then be presented an equally symbolic and impressive commemorative “Defending Grand Champion Shield” to keep and inspire their students as they hopefully defend their title and try to reclaim the Legacy Sword!
